The distribution program has served Freedom Soup (soup joumou) to over 9,000 brothers & sisters throughout Ayiti (Haiti). Our goal is to ensure that all of our brothers and sisters have a taste of freedom by distributing Freedom Soup (soup joumou) throughout Ayiti (Haiti).

LEGACY of LA FÉLICITÉ
and the HISTORY of soup joumou
Over two centuries ago, Marie Claire Heureuse Félicité Bonheur Dessalines, the first empress of Ayiti (Haiti), began the tradition of distributing Soup Joumou across the island.

Her mission was to honor this renewed freedom for many Haitians  by promoting  health, education, and justice. She and her team would prepare Freedom Soup every year, in its authentic fashion, without meat.

After preparations were complete,  they would travel to various corners of  Ayiti and distribute to those who did not have the resources to prepare among themselves.

Soup would be shared from sun up until sun down and lasted for the entire first week of the month. This is the legacy FONDASYON FELICITEE carries forward!

"When you come to the foundation, not only do they show you how to prepare the soup the right was with the original recipe, and without adding ingredients that are not healthy, but it also reminds us how important it is for us to share the soup and the knowledge about our history!"
